The Strahov Monastic Brewery

The brewery of the Strahov Monastery is located near the Prague Castle, in the complex of the Strahov Monastery, founded by King Vladislav II in 1142. The first documentation related to the brewery dates back to the end of 13th century. The decision of building a new completely functional brewery, where today lies the restaurant, has been taken by Abbot Kaspar Questenberg in 1628. The brewery was then closed in 1907, and the buildings were uses as farms. The brewery has been restored only few years ago, in 2000, during a difficult reconstruction of the whole complex. The current Strahov Monastic Brewery offers to its hosts a capacity of 350 seats in 3 different environment, the brewery itself, the restaurant St. Norbert and the courtyard of the brewery.
